The Power to Change Things

Nov. 7, 2018 | By Creflo Dollar

The world lives in fear, lack, and insufficiency; most people simply accept these things as the norm. However, believers have been given authority to dominate situations that defeat others. When we got born again, we gained access to God’s best, which means we don’t have to tolerate anything less. When others struggle helplessly with issues that come against them, we can use the power we have to change things for the better.

The believers’ authority we have is real, and it comes straight from God. When the devil orchestrates evil schemes against us, we know that he has already been defeated. Jesus stripped him of all authority and gave it to us. “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you” (Luke 10:17-19). We have the same power that Jesus had.

Power is the ability to get the job done and see the results we want. There’s no limit to what we can do in Christ. When we hear Him speaking to us and giving us an assignment, there’s no reason to let anything stand in our way. We have the strength to accomplish anything, because He lives in us and we in Him. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” (Philippians 4:13, NKJV).

Christ living in us makes the difference between failure and success in our lives. He enables us to do things we could never do through our own efforts. “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us” (Ephesians 3:20). We have this power and authority by faith. All we need to do is rely on Jesus, trusting that He’s not only able, but willing to empower us to succeed in everything we set out to do.

When the situation looks bleak, we can open our mouths and confess God’s Word to change the situation. We’ve been authorized to speak things into existence that don’t exist yet. “…Before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were” (Romans 4:17). In the beginning, God spoke all of creation into existence (Genesis 1:1-27). He created something good out of nothing; we have that same ability.

Our belief in God’s promises allows Him to strengthen us to be able to withstand adversity and come out stronger. When others give up in the midst of a bad situation, we can hold up and confidently move toward our goal. “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31). This is one of the things that sets us apart from the world.

True strength and power don’t come from us, but from God. Our faith moves us into a position to receive what He has given us. “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might” (Ephesians 6:10). Our realization of the authority that we’ve been given, and our willingness to use it to fulfill God’s plan, assures us of victory.
