For the week of December 25, 2023 Confidence to Face All Our Days

As another year draws to a close and we prepare for a new one, none of us know what the future holds. The next twelve months could be filled with major breakthroughs and amazing successes—or with heartaches and tribulation. Having no idea what will happen can be frightening for those trying to do life alone. By contrast, trusting in God to walk with us gives us hope and reassurance.

Life isn’t supposed to be one hundred percent trouble-free. We can absolutely expect things to go wrong sometimes. The Bible tells us that all who live godly will suffer persecution, but it also says that although we’ll have trouble in the world, we can take heart because Jesus has overcome the world. Believing this gives us peace that passes all understanding.

As believers, we live in a world full of chaos, uncertainty, and fear. However, despite what’s going on around us, we can be fully confident in His promises never to leave us when things get rough. God has emphatically stated that He’ll never, ever fail us, leave us without support, forsake us, or let us down.

We don’t have to fear the passing of time when we have faith that God is taking care of us. Although others around us may struggle with problems that are too much for them to bear, God never leaves His children to fend for themselves. Even to our old age, and to gray hairs, He’ll carry us through and deliver us from the situation.

It’s reassuring to know that whatever we’ll face, we won’t have to rely on our own strength to get through it. There will be times when we’re just too weak to handle it. Thankfully, God’s grace is all we need; His power works best in weakness. This gives us courage and strength that others don’t have.

Prayer:

God, You hold the future, which is why we don’t have to fear it. Thank You for walking with us step by step, and even carrying us through the situation when trouble hits and we don’t have the strength to go on. In Jesus name, amen.
