1 John 1:9

Have you ever done something you thought was honest and upright, only to later realize you could and should have handled it differently? Every day Christians find themselves in situations where their integrity is questioned. However, as Christians, must examine this area so we're found faultless and pure in our motives and actions.

As Christians we should always strive to operate in integrity. Integrity is moral soundness. Moral applies to right or truthful conduct, and our morality is based on the Word of God. Still, there are times when we consider something right or truthful, but is it sound? If we truly aspire to operate in integrity, we must examine the soundness of our actions, even when our intentions are honest. Soundness demands that our plans be carefully thought out and considered from all angles.

I have made mistakes in my life. Although my intentions may have been good, I was often really impulsive—I'd get excited and not completely think through or foresee the result of my actions. However, as I continued to grow in my faith and understanding of God's Word, I began to consider the possible long—term effects of such behavior, and began making the necessary adjustments. I began to allow the Holy Spirit to lead me in everything I do. He knows everything, including how it will be viewed in the eyes of others. Now of course we're not in bondage to people or what they think, but we must be sure that we have a pure heart and demonstrate soundness in everything we do.

If you've made some poor judgment calls, repent, and do your best to make amends with the people you've affected. Bottom line, regardless of what others think about your actions, God looks at your heart. Strive to grow in integrity and to be sound in your actions. Always be mindful that God empowers those who operate with a pure heart!

Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God!
