As sons and daughters of God, it is imperative that we understand how to operate
in the capacity of a steward. A steward is someone appointed to supervise or oversee
the affairs of another. Stewards are not the owners; instead they are the managers
over things that belong to someone else.
As Christians, our ability to be good and faithful stewards directly impacts the
quality of our lives. Faithful stewards are dependable, trustworthy, and consistently
display character and integrity. They have a history of operating in excellence
and doing what's right because it's right. In addition, they seldom make decisions
without first consulting the owner. This is the type of character we should aspire
to have as Christians.
I believe many of the breakthroughs people desire are hindered because they fail
to pass the test. Faithfulness isn't measured overnight. The proving of your faithfulness
is in doing what you were last told to do, over a long period of time, particularly
when no one's watching. So ask yourself, Am I a faithful steward? Can God trust
me to properly manage the gifts, talents, and resources He's entrusted to me? Do
I regularly check with God to see what He would have me to do with His resources,
or do I just do my own thing?
If you can prove yourself faithful, get ready to experience magnificent blessings,
promotion, and increase. The Bible clearly states that faithful stewards will abound
in the blessings of God and display a supernatural empowerment. As a result, they
will increase and be whole on every level. However, without faithfulness there is
no promotion or increase.
Every day is a chance to prove your faithfulness. Use small beginnings as an opportunity
to develop character. Keep in mind that what you do with little indicates what you
will do with abundance. If you are unfaithful tithing off $100, can He trust you
with more? If you will not tithe when you have $100, chances are you won't tithe
when you have $1 million.
It is important to remind ourselves that all good things come from God. The talents,
gifts, and resources we have are given to us for one reason only—to use as
directed by Him. He is the owner, and we are the stewards over what belongs to Him.
I encourage you to prove your faithfulness by displaying character and integrity
in everything you do. Remember, rulership awaits those who are good and faithful
stewards.
