Your Days of Inferiority Are Over!

In certain situations, do you feel small and unimportant compared to other people? Do you constantly compare yourself to others and only feel good about yourself when you believe that you are better in some way? If so, you are not alone. Many of us struggle with feelings of inferiority at some point in our lives. But the good news is that you can overcome these feelings and enjoy being the wonderful person God created you to be!

One of the quickest ways to overcome feelings of inferiority—and build self-esteem—is to defeat the spirit of selfishness, which is the opposite of love. When you follow the great commandment of love (Matthew 22:37-39) to the extent that you are more concerned about meeting the needs of others than you are about meeting your own needs, your feelings of inadequacy and uncertainty will begin to diminish. By making a positive difference in someone else’s life, you’ll gain a sense of accomplishment that is powerful enough to eradicate your feelings of inferiority.

Another way to ensure that your days of inferiority are over is to end all “delusions of grandeur.” Second Corinthians 10:13 in the Amplified Bible says, “We, on the other hand, will not boast beyond our legitimate province and proper limit, but will keep within the limits [of our commission which] God has allotted us as our measuring line and which reaches and includes even you.” In other words, God wants you to do what He has called you to do. Therefore, don’t compare yourself or your calling to others, or to the calling that is on their lives. When you do, you demonstrate disregard for what God is doing in your life.

God made you a unique individual with a unique purpose. Therefore, it is important that you find and follow His specific plan for your life. If you allow God to use the gifts and abilities you possess, you will fulfill His perfect will for your life. Confidently rest in the knowledge that the work He has begun in your life will be completed (Philippians 1:6). Keep a positive attitude and realize that you are a work in progress. Philippians 2:13 in the Amplified Bible says, “[Not in your own strength] for it is God Who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.” How can you feel inferior, knowing that the power of God is working within you?
