God’s Beloved

Everyone has an inborn need to be loved that is a strong motivator in much of what we do. If we know someone loves us, deep down inside we feel secure and worthwhile. Many people don’t have this sense of security because they’ve never experienced the kind of love God offers. It’s not found in the world, but it’s powerful enough to literally change lives.

As Christians, we already have a tremendous advantage because of who our Father is. “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name” (John 1:12, NKJV). The world is full of confused people because the standards defining their identities change constantly. We can be confident knowing that our identities are based on something that doesn’t keep shifting.

The world’s kind of love can be transient and based on a person’s behavior. God’s love is unchanging; He loves us, no matter what we do or how many mistakes we make. Just like the father whose son ran away, then returned (Luke 15:11-23), our heavenly Father will always welcome us back with open arms. Too many people have never felt this kind of accepting love.

We don’t have to look too far to see others in trouble and needing deliverance from whatever situation in which they’re trapped. Whether it’s an addiction, an abusive relationship, emotional issues, or simply wrong-thinking, they need help. “That thy beloved may be delivered; save with thy right hand, and hear me” (Psalm 60:5). As God’s beloved, we’ve already received salvation and deliverance; we can now offer someone else a helping hand.

God will never abandon us or leave us stranded. We have His solemn promise of this. “…For He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]” (Hebrews 13:5, AMPC). Others who don’t know Christ, however, have no such promise. It’s up to us to show them that there is a God on whom they can depend, who will never let them down.

Being members of God’s family means there’s someone bigger, stronger, and more powerful looking out for us. We have someone who cares deeply about us, and we can run to Him when we’re in trouble. This is something everyone needs, but few people have. “See how very much our Father loves us, for he calls us his children, and that is what we are! But the people who belong to this world don’t recognize that we are God’s children because they don’t know him” (1 John 3:1, NLT).

Whatever God does, He does out of love. This is the kind of love that stays with us.

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?... Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:35, 37-39).

It’s time to share this love with others.
