Daily Devotionals - April 2023
30 Apr.

Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead? (1 Corinthians 15:12).

Jesus has the power to raise anything from the dead, on any level. Whether we’re struggling with dead relationships in our lives or the death of cherished goals and dreams, He breathes new life into the situation.

29 Apr.

But by the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not [found to be] for nothing (fruitless and without effect). In fact, I worked harder than all of them [the apostles], though it was not really I, but the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God which was with me(1 Corinthians 15:10, AMPC).

When we’re trying to improve ourselves and become more like God, His grace is more powerful and effective than our own efforts. Despite his past, Paul was able to confess that God’s favor changed him for the better; this applies to us as well.

28 Apr.

And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you(Matthew 17:20).

Faith in Jesus Christ empowers us to do supernatural things that are impossible in the natural realm. Even with just a tiny bit of faith, keeping it out in the field constantly until it gets the job done is how we access this higher level.

27 Apr.

I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ (Galatians 1:6, 7).

There are plenty of mindsets and doctrines in the world, but the believer needs to adhere to only one—the Gospel of Grace. When we stop trusting in God’s grace, we begin to trust in ourselves.

26 Apr.

Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us(Ephesians 3:20).

God wants us to succeed and do great things in life. Trusting in Him to give us the capability to do His will makes us successful.

25 Apr.

That’s why I work and struggle so hard, depending on Christ’s mighty power that works within me(Colossians 1:29, NLT).

Trying to succeed in anything through our own strength is futile. When we encounter adversity and trouble, depending on God’s ability instead of on our own gives us the strength to overcome the situation.

24 Apr.

Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus(Colossians 1:28).

The world strives for perfection, but Jesus is the only one who can perfect us. As He works in us to make us continually more like Him, we become increasingly unlike the world.

23 Apr.

And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men(Luke 2:13, 14).

Before Jesus, God was at war with sin, which separated Him from mankind. After Jesus went to the cross and permanently took care of sin, we can now be reconciled back to God and be at peace with Him.

22 Apr.

That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:7).

God has always loved mankind and wanted to show people how He felt about them, but under the old-covenant Law of Moses He was restricted. Now that Jesus has come, God can show us the unrestrained operation of His infinite love that works through Jesus Christ for mankind, especially for those who depend on Him.

21 Apr.

For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness(Romans 4:3).

We live in an unbelieving world, but as Christians, we’re not part of this external environment. God sees us as righteous because of our faith in Him, just like Abraham.

20 Apr.

And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then it is no more grace: otherwise work is no more work (Romans 11:6).

God shows us grace without us having to work for it or earn it. We receive His undeserved, unmerited favor not because we are good, but because He is good.

19 Apr.

We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed(2 Corinthians 4:8, 9).

As believers, we can expect trouble to show up; God never promised us an easy life with no persecution. However, He did promise that He’ll always be by our side to deliver us from whatever situation we find ourselves in.

18 Apr.

In one of the villages, Jesus met a man with an advanced case of leprosy. When the man saw Jesus, he bowed with his face to the ground, begging to be healed. ‘Lord,’ he said, ‘if you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.’ Jesus reached out and touched him. ‘I am willing’ he said. ‘Be healed!’ And instantly the leprosy disappeared” (Luke 5:12, 13, NLT).

Good health is God’s will for us; however, the world doesn’t know this because it doesn’t know Jesus. A thorough understanding of His Word concerning our healing teaches us that we never have to tolerate living with sickness or disease.

17 Apr.

There are ‘friends’ who destroy each other, but a real friend sticks closer than a brother” (Proverbs 18:24, NLT).

God’s will for us is to be in relationship with others; we weren’t created to be alone. We can surround ourselves with many people who may not necessarily be our friends, but God sends us the ones we should do life with.

16 Apr.

But in that coming day no weapon turned against you will succeed. You will silence every voice raised up to accuse you. These benefits are enjoyed by the servants of the Lord; their vindication will come from me. I, the Lord, have spoken!” (Isaiah 54:17, NLT).

The world is accustomed to living in fear. By comparison, the believer who places complete trust in God has nothing to fear; these are the people who see divine protection.

15 Apr.

Thus saith the Lord, thy Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; I am the Lord thy God which teacheth thee to profit, which leadeth thee by the way that thou shouldest go” (Isaiah 48:17).

Knowing the right path to travel in life gives us direction and purpose. Trusting in God to lead us instead of trying to find our own way causes us to profit in everything we do.

14 Apr.

Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God” (Matthew 5:9).

By earthly standards, it’s always nice to be the son or daughter of someone with influence and power, but that only happens with a few select individuals. By comparison, our faith in Jesus Christ makes us children of the most powerful and influential of all kings; this family relationship extends to all who believe.

13 Apr.

And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne” (Revelation 8:3).

Religion often teaches philosophies and concepts contradictory to God’s Word. We don’t have to work hard doing religious works to be considered saints—we become saints by faith in Jesus Christ and in His finished works.

12 Apr.

With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace” (Ephesians 4:2, 3).

Peace in all our relationships is God’s will for us. This is possible when we choose a humble, selfless mindset and put others first.

11 Apr.

A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries up the bones” (Proverbs 17:22, AMPC).

There’s a definite link between the body and the mind, and what we harbor in our hearts determines our attitude. A good attitude in life does our hearts good; correspondingly, a bad attitude can negatively impact our health.

10 Apr.

So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth, who will trust you with true riches? And if you have not been trustworthy with someone else’s property, who will give you property of your own?(Luke 16:11, 12, NIV).

All good things, including money, come from God. The person with upright morals and godly character will show trustworthiness in handling wealth and earthly riches, which God sees of little value compared to heaven’s eternal riches.

9 Apr.

I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord” (Psalm 118:17).

God’s will for us is a long and healthy life. We speak life when we agree with His Word.

8 Apr.

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee (Deuteronomy 31:6).

God tells us as Christians that we need not fear anything or anyone when we’re walking with Him. No matter what the devil may try to do, God will go with us and protect us; we have His promise on this.

7 Apr.

So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her” (John 8:7).

Jesus offered mercy to everyone, including an adulterous woman. Showing mercy to others and refusing to be judgmental is one way of lifting up Jesus for all to see.

6 Apr.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid (Matthew 5:14).

By letting God’s love shine through us, we can provide light to a dark world. As children of the King, we can walk in the one true light that keeps us from stumbling and losing our way.

5 Apr.

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure” (Philippians 2:13).

Our ability alone can’t enable us to do the things God has called us to do. He seldom asks us to do something that’s possible in our own strength; instead, He calls us to complete a task that requires His ability. Tapping into that power today allows us to accomplish great things through Him.

4 Apr.

Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world” (1 John 4:4).

If we’re members of the body of Christ, Jesus dwells in us. He’s with us wherever we go.

3 Apr.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13).

Our primary responsibilities are to respect, revere, and obey the Lord. When we obey Him, we show our love for Him and position ourselves for increase.

2 Apr.

Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed” (1 Peter 2:24).

We’ve been healed from the crown of our heads to the soles of our feet. Jesus paid the price for our healing; we’re free to receive it today.

1 Apr.

Then Peter began to speak: ‘I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism’ (Acts 10:34, NIV).

Regardless of race, gender, how much money we earn, our socioeconomic status, or any other worldly standard, we’re all equal in God’s eyes. He loves us all equally and He doesn’t play favorites.
