For the week of February 6, 2023 Confidence in Jesus’ Healing Power

If you’ve ever received a bad medical report and didn’t feel confident about a positive outcome, you may remember how frightened and insecure you felt. Confidence goes a long way, and can make the difference between being healed or staying sick. Another definition of confidence is faith, which doctors may not fully understand yet plays a large part in the healing process. When we have faith in what Christ did for us on the cross, we position ourselves to receive the healing He made available for us through His death and resurrection.

Taking authority over our thought process is critical when things don’t look good. Religious thinking says that maybe God’s mad at us, and we deserve what we got because of some unrighteous deed we did. However, our faith, not our actions, make us righteous in God’s eyes. We’ll never be justified by works, but only by the faith of Christ.

God cares deeply for us and doesn’t want us to be sick. If we don’t know this—or don’t believe it—we can open ourselves up to all kinds of things that aren’t good for us. In the Old Testament under the law, the people made this mistake when they thought God hated them and wanted to destroy them. The truth now under grace is that we love Him because He loved us, first.

Before Jesus came, God prophesied through Jeremiah, saying He would bring health and cure the people. Regardless of what it looks like on the physical level, this has already happened. Jesus went to the cross to fulfill this prophecy; by His stripes, we’ve been healed. Being confident in this opens the door to the supernatural.

When we’re sick, faith in God’s healing power turns things around. He strengthens us on our bed of illness, and sustains us on our sickbed. Contemplating this opens us up to restored health.

Prayer:

God, it’s not Your will for us to be sick. You love us and want perfect health for us; thank You for sending Your Son to make this possible. In Jesus’ name, amen.
