For the week of March 4, 2019 Grace to Rise Above

Life can throw us challenges when we least expect it. However, whatever we encounter can’t defeat us because Jesus has already conquered it for us. Regardless of how bad the situation may appear for the moment, it’s no match against the ability we’ve been given to rise above adversity. As believers, we can take courage and be confident that God’s grace has deprived evil of the power to harm us.

There’s a battle going on in the spiritual realm over our minds, but we’ve already won it. We have authority over fear, depression, anger, and all other negative emotions that otherwise would be able to cripple us. Jesus battled all these emotions and won; we now have the right to claim the same victory. This gives us boldness, because as He is, so are we in this world.

Although our enemy knows he’s been beaten, he still hopes we’ll forget what Christ did for us through His death and resurrection. We must never forget. When Jesus defeated Satan and saw him fall from heaven, He gave us the power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. If we believe this, nothing can hurt us.

Jesus publicly defeated Satan and stripped him of all power and authority. He blotted out everything written against us, took it away, and nailed it all to the cross. Jesus deliberately made a public spectacle of the enemy’s defeat so that it would resonate for all time, and reassure us of the genuine power we have to rise above what holds down the rest of the world.

Because of what He did, we’re not fighting for victory, but from victory. We do this by thinking in line with the mindset of winners and standing in faith, to maintain the victory Jesus died to obtain for us. We can give thanks to God, who gave us victory through Christ.

Prayer:

Lord, we no longer have to struggle in life when we accept by faith the victory Jesus won for us. When trouble hits, believing in the power of what He did helps us to overcome it. Thank You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
