For the week of February 27, 2023 Grace to Rise above Trouble

Life can throw us challenges when we least expect it. No matter how good things are for the moment, trouble may be lurking just around the corner. However, despite what we encounter, Jesus has already faced every kind of suffering and adversity there is, and rose above it. Therefore, as believers, we can take courage and be confident that God’s favor has deprived evil of the power to harm us.

Our thinking determines whether we stay stuck in a situation or move forward. When we think like Christ, we’ve already won the battle over our minds that’s going on in the spiritual realm. Jesus has conquered fear, depression, anger, and all other negative emotions from the enemy that otherwise could defeat us; we now have the right to claim the same victory. This gives us boldness, because as He is, so are we in this world.

The devil knows he’s been beaten; he just hopes we’ll forget what Christ did for us through His death and resurrection. We must never forget. When Jesus defeated Satan and saw him fall from heaven, He gave us the power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy. If we believe this, nothing can hurt us.

Jesus publicly stripped Satan of all power and authority. He blotted out everything written against us, took it away, and nailed it all to the cross. Jesus triumphed over it, and deliberately made a public spectacle of the enemy’s defeat so that it would resonate for all time. This reassures us of the genuine power we have to rise above what holds down the rest of the world.

Because of what Jesus did, we’re not fighting for victory, but from victory. We do this by thinking in line with the mindset of winners and standing in faith, to maintain the victory He died to obtain for us. We can give thanks to God, who gave us the victory through Christ.

Prayer:

Lord, we no longer have to be sidetracked by trouble or adversity. We can now accept by faith the victory over it that Jesus won for us. When we’re in a situation, believing in the power of what He did helps us to overcome it. Thank You for your help. In Jesus’ name, amen.
