For the week of April 10, 2023 Protected from Fear

We all have an innate need to feel protected and safe if we’re to be confident, productive human beings. This can be difficult in today’s dangerous world. However, there’s no need to be in bondage to the fear that we see all around us. Trusting that God will always be there to protect us when we need someone bigger and stronger than us allows us to live fearlessly.

Utilized wisely, this need for protection causes us to acknowledge our need for God and to turn to Him when trouble shows up. There will always be situations too big for us to handle alone; at times like these, God promises to envelop us with His presence. Keeping company with Him teaches us to live freely and lightly. In His presence, there’s fullness of joy.

God loves us and doesn’t want us to be afraid of any harm befalling us. Trusting in ourselves for our own safety is always a gamble; trusting in Him is a much better plan. He gives us peace when others have worry and anxiety. God hides us in the shelter of His presence, safe from those who conspire against us.

There’s a devil loose in the world intent on stealing the joy and contentment we have in Christ. The last thing he wants is for us to have a peaceful life knowing we have divine protection with God. However, the enemy has already been defeated; we can either submit to the fear the devil brings, or to faith in what Jesus did on the cross for us. The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy; Jesus came that we might have life, and have it more abundantly.

God’s undeserved favor toward us protects us on every level; there’s nothing strong enough to overpower it. He’s faithful; He establishes us and guards us from the evil one. Relying on this type of supernatural safety effectively shuts down all negative emotions.

Prayer:

God, one of the ways You set believers apart from the world is the protection You give us. Faith in this gives us peace that others don’t have. Thank You for watching over us. In Jesus’ name, amen.
