Trouble is something no one likes to see, but it’s bound to show up when it’s least expected and disrupt our daily lives. Everyone has their own way of dealing with it, but some ways are more effective than others. The “no man is an island” mindset says we only thrive when all depend on each other; however, everyone has their own human limitations and people can let us down. When harm comes our way, our best response is to trust that God has already arranged for our deliverance from it.

Our rescuer, deliverer, protector, and redeemer went to the cross and shed His blood to ensure that no bad situation would be able to destroy us. Jesus, who is full of grace and truth, chose to die for us so that we could enjoy life in abundance until it overflows. This means we’re no longer at the mercy of whatever the enemy throws at us to make our lives miserable. Unlike in the Old Testament, we’re now the head and not the tail; we’re above and not beneath.

Jesus has stripped the devil of his power and given it back to us, the way God originally intended it. He gave us power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt us. This enables us to trouble our trouble. When it shows up, we can send it packing.

The world offers us plenty of opportunities to fear, but relying on Christ makes our protection a sure thing. We never have to be intimidated by our enemies, no matter how they present themselves to us, because we’re saved by God, Himself. Having faith in this enables us to live fearlessly.

Prayer:

Lord, as Your children we can be confident that You’ll always be ready to come to our rescue and deliver us from the bad things in life. This allows us to live with no fear. We’re thankful for this. In Jesus' name, amen.
